Help Us Advocate for an Social Care Provider Exemption from Employer NIC Increases

The Government’s recent budget announcement of an increase in Employer’s National Insurance Contributions (NICs) poses a serious challenge for the social care sector. With tight budgets and rising costs, many organisations are feeling the pressure.

As members of Learning Disability England we are passionate about ensuring that individuals with learning disabilities and/or autism are given the support they deserve, and our priority will always be delivering high-quality care to the amazing people we support – enabling them to live independently.

Thankfully, there are ways to take action. A petition has been launched to urge the Government to exempt all social care providers from the Employer NIC increase. This change would help ease financial burdens, allowing care organisations across the country to focus on what matters most—providing outstanding care and support to the people they support.

While we navigate these challenges, it’s essential to recognise the constraints that local authorities and ICB (Integrated Care Board) commissioners face. They understand our struggles and want to support us, but their budgets are ultimately limited by the support they receive from central government.  We value our partnerships with local authorities and ICBs, working together to advocate for the government intervention needed to ensure the sustainability of social care!
