Media coverage of autism and support

News, Response

Recently there has been media coverage of Jonty Bravery, the man with autism who threw a 6 year old from the balcony at the Tate Modern Gallery. We can only imagine how traumatic this devastating incident is for the boy, his family and everyone else involved.

Media attention has been directed towards the support he was receiving and the safety of community support. We wanted to share some thoughts and concerns on what is being said here.

A Merry Makaton Christmas from all at PBS4

Each month we hold a Coffee Morning for the people we support and their families so they can discuss experiences and common areas of interest.

This month the topic for discussion was ‘Makaton’. Makaton is a language programme using signs and symbols to help people to communicate.

To keep in the festive spirit of Christmas, Hannah Hall our Makaton trainer, joined us to demonstrate ‘We Wish You A Merry Christmas’ in Makaton and assisted us all to learn how to sign it.

Merry Christmas from all of us at PBS4 !

Potential Enablement Champions of the Year

At PBS4 we like to acknowledge the hard work and dedication that our staff put into supporting the people we support. Each month we ask our staff to nominate a colleague in recognition of them going the extra mile in their job and in supporting the people we support.

Our Enablement Champion of the month winners for 2018 are;
